http://www.cbc.ca/arts/music/story/2007/02/11/grammy-winners.html Seriously. I really don't give a fucking shit about the "hardships" the Dixie Chicks have had to deal with because they live in a country full of hypocritical shit-fuckers that say "freedom of speech" on day, and then totally ruin you commercially when you actually exhibit said basic right.
Although I couldn't think of a more worthy band, because, the Dixie Chicks suck.
But it's kind of funny though, that there are a million punk bands in the United States, all of which have anti-government messages, and are also vehemently against the current administration.
IN FACT, Green Day, who's wholes most recent album, every FUCKING song in one context or another was anti-government, and they won THREE grammy's last year, and on top of that, nobody shunned them they were hailed as "genius" (I love Green Day, but I will not stretch things that far)
The Dixie Chicks get burned because the lead singer says in a European interview that she doesn't like the president and they get fucked (And probably not in the way they're used to... But in the way that most sensible people do when they hear their music) and Green Day can release an album that's essentially the same thing, only way awesomer, and make a bundle and take home a shit load of awards and critical acclaim.
I think the moral of the story is, if you're going to insult the president and say his war is stupid in an interview and you're in the music business, it helps if your band mate isn't a white woman from Texas.
I think that's probably the only reason there was this backlash and subsequent media attention/celebrity "news" revolving around this whole thing, even after how many years now?
Shit. Why do I write about this crap?
