Sean was about five foot nine inches, at least that’s what Mike thought, estimating by his own height of five foot eight. Sean had what appeared to be light brown hair, that was obscured by the green that covered his short hair, ‘Obviously dyed,’ though Mike, stating the most obvious to himself. Sean was more filled out at the shoulders than Mike was, which gave Sean the look of a football player. He had, much to Mike’s great surprise, light green eyes, which matched almost perfectly with his green hair. Sean was clothed in long baggy cargo pants, and had a large hoodie that hung down below the waste level. The hoodie was inscribed with the words, “F*** Society, and Embrace Humanity”.
Mike felt a strange pulling in his chest, like something within him was trying to reach out to this new boy. Mike’s face felt hot, and his heart began to beat erratically. What was this feeling that felt so foreign to Mike? Was he getting sick? No that couldn’t be it, he had felt just fine minutes ago. Was the temperature in the room to high? No, he hadn’t felt warm moments before. Why had the presence of Sean caused him to feel strange?
Mike was jarred from his thoughts as Mr. Black said, “Ah yes, everything seems to be in proper order,” His eyes scanning a small piece of paper that Sean had handed to him, “Welcome to fifth period History.” Looking around the classroom, Mr. Black said, “You may sit back there in the empty desk, next to Mike.” Then turning to Mike he said, “And if you can keep yourself from daydreaming long enough to finish this lesson, I would appreciate it if you would answer any of Mr. Dareth’s questions for me.”
As Sean seated himself, Mike caught the distinct smell of apple cider wafting off of Sean. Leaning over, Mike said, “Hi, I’m Mike Lester,” And offered his hand to Sean.
Sean stared at the open hand for a moment, then said, “I believe you already know my name. And please keep both your hands to yourself.” The last words bit at Sean’s chest. How could this boy be so mean to him? Retracting his hand slowly, Mike tried with all his might to turn his attention back to Mr. Black’s lesson, but with little luck. The feeling in his chest still ached to be closer to Sean, but after his harsh words, Mike wasn’t sure what to think about that boy anymore.
Soon the bell rang, and the class began to file out. Mike lingered behind, taking as much time as possible to put everything back in his bag. Once the class had emptied, Mike approached Mr. Black. “Sir,” He began slowly, “I was wondering if I could talk to you about getting a different spot.”
Mr. Black gave him a sideways glance, and said, “Why, can’t see enough space from where you are sitting?” Then placing some more papers in his bag, Mr. Black continued, “I’m sorry Mike. But after how many times you have been caught daydreaming in my class, I am not very inclined to give you any special treatment.”
Mike blushed slightly, “But sir, you don’t understand. The boy, Sean Dareth, he hates me. I offered him my hand to shake, and he told me to “keep your hands to yourself”. I just want to not sit close to someone who hates me.”
“I doubt he hates you,” Said Mr. Black hastily, “You just need to try to be kind to him more often.” Then looking down at his watch, he said, “You’d better hurry. Sixth period starts very soon, and I’m not going to give you a pass for being late.” Then without another word, Mr. Black swept past Mike, and out of the classroom.
Walking slowly down the hall to his last class of the day, Mike thought about Sean. Why had he been so quick to reject Mike’s friendship? Did Sean just think that Mike was some nerd that would bring him down in popularity? But that thought was quickly banished, Sean looked like a punk, a loner, nothing like the jocks that grouped themselves together.
As Mike entered his sixth period algebra, he was shocked to see Sean sitting right next to his usual spot. ‘Why is he here?’ Mike thought to himself, ‘Why couldn’t he get some other sixth period class?’ He was interrupted from his thoughts by the teacher Ms. Tate asking him to find his seat.
Sulkily he sat down next to Sean, who seemed to be trying to ignore Mike’s existence. ‘This is going to be one of the longest classes of my life,’ Mike thought bitterly to himself, then settled in to try to listen to Ms. Tate’s lesson.

Now a little question to my reader... Should I make this go fast, and end up together by the end of the first week, or should I drag it out a little more, making it like a month of two before they get together?
Let me know ^_^
