Just got an email from my mother. Apparently my grandmother's neighbour (in a retirement village) committed suicide last night.
I'd feel sorrier for her if she hadn't done so by setting her house on fire (definitely on purpose, the fire brigade say - and she tried to set fire to the car as well).
And so my grandparents' house nearly went up as well. There's some damage on the carport side. Only reason it's not worse is because my grandmother got up to go to the loo and saw the flames, managed to wake her husband up and get Uncle Doug to help with the hosing until the fire brigade arrived.
If you're going to off yourself (which, by the way, I dis-recommend in the strongest terms) - try not to take anyone else with you, yeah?
