Heroes Returns!

Double episode, double the Meta, triple the snark. I must admit I’m still a bit spoiled after a lovely weekend of BBC television, so I might be a bit harsher on Heroes then I really should be. We start with Claire and I must admit she, Noah and Sylar annoyed the hell out of me this week. Samuel might have his motives for gathering people, but he’s also trying to live up his brother’s example and Claire’s unwillingness to give him a break was cruel. Also did she really think Doyle was going to listen to her when she tried to clue him in?

The poor man has found a home and I don’t blame him for wanting to protect it at all costs. I have to admit I shouted “Go Doyle, Go” when he had her pinned against the trailer, admit it you guys did too. And her actions with Peter were a bit annoying as well. You know for a fact, your uncle and your bio dad were close Claire so you force him to talk about a subject that he really doesn’t want to talk about well done.

About the only time I liked Barbie this week is when she confronted Noah. It’s been a long time coming and it was as epic as I hoped it would be. This in turn is sending Noah down a path that I think even Angela couldn’t have foreseen. Also I think I ship Samuel/Claire more than anything in the world, but more on that later.

We find out Samuel is the one who sent the cello to Emma, big surprise their Heroes given that most of the fans figured that out 10 episodes ago. And he asks her to use her power to draw a male Poison Ivy out of Central Park for him.

While it’s nice to see that Emma’s power is more than just pretty lights I’m a bit tired of every other person having some form of empathy. At this rate they are going to have to make their own hippy commune out in the desert just to keep from killing someone every time they have road rage.

Also the idea of Emma going mad with power and ending the world has been done writers…his name is Sylar. Using another person to give Peter an easy way out of his grief is a cop out and you know it…for shame even Doctor Who doesn’t pull tricks that cheap.

Boring Not Kate continues to bore me as does Lydia this week. I don’t understand why the Tattooed Wonder can’t just guide people from point A to point B without all this cryptic stuff. If you want your daughter safe then do something about it, don’t just whine about it then do whatever Samuel says. Eden was more proactive than you and that’s saying something.

Edgar decides killing Noah is the best way to get back in Samuel’s good graces and Noah decides sticking Edgar in a sushi freezer and hitting him is a lot more fun. Personally I like both options, but that’s just me. Kate, channeling the CIA version of Doctor Phil, advises talking before hitting and Noah offers tea and kind words that win Edgar over for about ten seconds before Noah whips out the guns again and freaks him out.

Granted Samuel is heading into creepy cult leader land but wouldn’t make more sense to gather some more information first. For all Noah knows, Samuel really cares about these people and ripping apart their home might not be the smartest idea ever.

Peter and Noah cover up Nathan’s murder together in a scene that once again proves Heroes and logic are strange bedfellows. A plane crash really….who flew it and how did they get out show. You could have just said he’d died and pay someone to look the other way, less muss and fuss.

Peter then channels Bella Swan and does all he can to seek justice for Nathan without going after Sylar since Mommy won’t let him. Having lost someone very close to me once or twice I can understand why Peter goes little nuts. Forcing someone to talk about it or telling them to get over it doesn’t work here folks only time and a lot of thinking on Peter’s part will help. Oh and maybe hitting Sylar….a lot.

Yay for a mention of West and a peek at Nathan’s sons, I knew someone in the writer’s room hadn’t forgotten them. And how many fan fics called the taking of a flight power to stay close to Nathan…nicely done Milo, nicely done.

Sylar attempts to go after King Samuel and gets killed in ten seconds. I have to say I cheered when that happened, because Sylar was stupid in thinking he could take Samuel out so quickly. Not only does the man have an army of super powered people ready and willing to kill someone for him, but he also has had his power a lot longer than Sylar and knows how to use it.

Samuel then wisely decides to keep Sylar alive and give him Lydia’s power. Smart move there Samuel because the magic tattoos tell Sylar to go stalk Claire.

*stares….stares some more….headdesk* I love you show I really do but this Sylar/Claire thing is really getting creepy, he has her power, is twice her age and it’s just plain gross. There is no conceivable reason why he wants her or thinks he does, unless the Nathan memories in his head were downloaded from the internet.

This is why there needs to be more women in the writer’s room just so we can hit some of these guys with a newspaper and go “No…no more bad sex scenes, bad writers, bad” every time they type a sentence.

I know something happened with Hiro and Ando this week but the plotline was so dumb I must have blocked it out.

Next Week: Angela nags Peter, we watch Emma go crazy Yo Yo Ma style and Noah continues to worship every word that comes out of boring Not Kate’s mouth.

meta, heroes
