Heroes: The Show that Kills...and Kills...and Kills

We start with Sylar in bed at the Carnival of Super Freaks, he and Nathan seem to have some sort of mental dream battle and Nathan wins for the moment giving us fan girls a lovely shot of Adrian in boxer shorts and a tight white t-shirt. I think AP has just said “Okay I have three episodes left, let’s just give the fan girls as much service as we can”, because he really went to town in this episode.

Samuel and Lydia do not notice the hot and bothered US Senator wandering their camp, because Samuel is off to guide another one of their cousins to them.  In Lydia’s defense I will say Samuel looked pretty darn good in his Sunday suit, so I understand why her attention wasn’t on anyone else.

Samuel dashes off, and Nylar decides he isn’t hanging around either and literally TAKES OFF, into the sky. My jaw drops and I choke for a second because even with bad science there is no conceivable way Nylar can fly….because SYLAR NEVER TOOK HIS POWER WRITERS, REMEMBER THAT. Even with the possible DNA changes they keep mentioning, Sylar never got a look inside Nathan’s head he was too busy trying to kill Michael Dorn.

Matt and Head Sylar have their own mental battle, which Matt for once wins hands down. I enjoy Matt being smart and devious and dark, but I don’t understand why the writers didn’t keep him dead too. Once Sylar shoves Nathan out of his body thus killing him, more on that later, what is Matt going to do. It’s not like Matt can just go home to Janice. “Oh hi honey look I’m not crazy any more, you can change the locks back”

Also a note to hair, ZQ NEEDS A HAIR CUT AND A WASH ASAP I couldn’t focus on the Hank murder scene without shuddering his hair looked so greasy. Anyway, Matt and Sylar park it at the Burnt Toast Diner, where Sylar throws some memories around and gets the full story out of Matt, when Lynette gets threatened. Sylar then decides it’s time to murder anyone connected with the insane plot to which I reply. THANK GOD.

Angela deserves to get some pay back for this, Noah has spent too much time thinking his life is fine because of what he does and Matt has spent too much time being an emo moron.  It’s bad enough Peter will most likely forgive his mother within two seconds for Nathan’s death and the hiding of same, so someone should do something to knock some sense into the Trio of Stupid yet Evil Plans.

Gretchen decides enough is enough and heads for the hills, despite Noah and Renee the Haitian pulling out some memory erasing mojo. Can I just stop to say Renee is the perfect name for a man as classy and cool as the Haitian. Once he’s done with Heroes, Jimmy can slide right into doing Bond movies.

Claire angst’s about losing her new best friend, which gives Samuel a perfect opportunity to slide in and seduce/talk to Claire about joining his “family” Only the whole thing is a trap because Noah shows up to point a gun in Samuel’s face. The look on Samuel’s face at this point that “Oh really a gun” look made me adore Robert Keppner all the more. He will be my new favorite after Peter.

We learn Becky’s father was a failed bag and tag by Noah and that Noah is willing to shove Claire to the ground to get at Samuel and that everyone wants revenge on everyone else. *confused look* If I didn’t know who created this show I’d say Aaron Spelling came back from the dead.

Peter and Emma are adorable and cute with fluffy bunnies on the side and its clear Peter is about ready for a mental breakdown, which given what he’s about to learn I don’t blame him for in the least. Emma will be his rock in the coming days and when he finally makes his way to Samuel I think she will be his light in the darkness pulling him back from becoming his future self.

The episode winds up with a freaked out Nylar stumbling into Peter’s apartment and giving him a hug that made fan girl hearts across the county explode. At this point Tim isn’t even trying to make it look brotherly and for that I thank him.

That being said here are my thoughts on Adrian leaving the show. Tim….you suck, you are depriving the show of one its central relationships, two if you think about how Claire will react to the news. Not only that you call this death one of Heroes most shocking, when half the fan base has seen it coming for months.

It’s a cheap way to give people more Sylar, when we actually need less, much less of him. As much as Peter’s reaction to this and everything that will happen afterwards excite me, I have this sneaking feeling you will cheapen it by having him rush through the stages of grief in an effort to throw him into Emma’s arms.

Please sir do this plotline correctly, use Milo’s fantastic acting ability to show that grief can linger even after a person has been buried, because Peter and Nathan have a relationship where souls can be ripped apart when one family member loses the other.  Even Peter’s ability to forgive should be deeply tested by this event given what he suffered last season.

To Adrian, thank you for being such a classy guy and giving us a morally gray politician to love. I look forward to your next project and will enjoy the rest of this season in Nathan’s memory.

See you guys next week.
