I just finished the book Running with Scissors. That was a really intense read, although honestly guys it's not going to be as lighthearted a movie as it seems in the previews. I mean, it was hilarious, but the author isn't afraid of any level of details. Kathleen, you are NOT allowed to see the movie. You'll hate it. You'll be absolutely scarred. If the movie follows the book, there's going to be rape, watching a boy give a man head, watching a mom give another mom head, lots of bleeding and cuts, and some gross humor. Although! If you are willing to put up with all that, it's a hilarious book but also a very cynical one. My favorite part in the book was when the main character (Augusten, a boy), is in pre-med school at a community college, and is asked to stay behind one class with a teacher to go over a test:
"I was certain she was going to inform me that I had a gift for science unlike any she'd ever seen. Perhaps she would tell me that I could skip community college and go straight to Harvard Medical School.
Instead, she picked up my exam from the pile of papers in front of her and read from it. "Augusten. On the test a question was asked: Identify the structure A. And you wrote, 'I believe this is a tibial tuberocity. But it could also be one of the foramans that I failed to memorize. Thank God for malpractice insurance, huh?'"
I smiled at my answer. She seemed a little less pleased."
XD I loved this book. The entire this was just one big contradictory statement about life, it was great. And it wasn't even one of those "OH WOE IS ME" autobiographies (because yes, it is a true story), but more pointed out how ridiculous everything in life is. Read it if you can stomach it!
Until later.
