Entry #2 of the day!

In other news, I've been with the running club for about a month now, training for a 5K for a bit longer than that. I'm most of the way through my sixth week, but the trip to New England threw off my schedule a bit. I still managed to run the 5K route on a practice run with the group in 40:33 on this past Monday, despite having not run in a week. I'm not sure what an awesome time is or if there is such a thing. It seems it's all relative. The group isn't competitive and is instead supportive. What's important is  to keep doing your best, which is all one can expect of anyone. That's been my mantra for a long while. My first 5K is tomorrow, which is to promote breast cancer awareness. Arguably, I've already done my first 5K, since I've run the route twice, but I get to pick up my first race packet this evening and wear my first race shirt and bib tomorrow morning. I'm excited! And through this group, I'm encouraged to do more. After I finish my Couch to 5K training (even though I'm running a 5K tomorrow-- and next week-- I still have another week and a half to go in the program), I'm going to train for a half-marathon or a full one. I haven't decided. I hear there's a Couch to Marathon program that takes only 16 weeks, but Matt says that seems a bit intense, and he and his running group do a 20-24 week program, but he wasn't ready to run a full one for another year. So I figure I might try out the method that Matt's group uses and see how I feel. In any case, I will run at least a half-marathon at the beginning of May. I have more than enough time to train, and I'm inspired to do so because of this club. Before joining, I just saw myself aiming for 3.1 miles, but now I realize I can do more.
