Babies and Zombies and Shake-a-Speare!

So you know how I said to add +1 for each week I mentioned before? You can subtract one because the doctor said that I was at 11 weeks, not 12. Tomorrow will mark 12 weeks. The appointment went well. Apart from me just needing to drink more water, I appear to be healthy, but I'm gonna call about blood test results just in case.

We were able to have an ultrasound, contrary to what people had been telling me before my appointment, so we were glad to see the baby. It was funny how that went down.... So the doctor tells me that she is going to perform the ultrasound right after the pelvic exam. So I go through that discomfort, and then she pulls out what I can only describe as an eight-ish inch dildo-ish object with a cord, which she then proceeds to cover in some kind of blue gel. She then covers it with a condom and adds more gel. Naturally, I am perplexed, and my visage reflects this, which prompts her to ask me, "Have you ever had a vaginal ultrasound before?" "Uh, no. I was just about to ask where you plan on putting that thing." She then adds, "Oh, don't worry. It looks worse than it actually is." I was hesitant in believing her. I saw what she did. She lubed it twice.

But all was well. We couldn't tell what it was, but it was healthy. It waved at us, but it was probably more like, "Get that thing outta my face!" and then it squirmed a lot, and then it rubbed its forehead.

On a non-baby note, we took a day trip to western Maryland yesterday for our friends Kayla and Josh's daughter's fifth birthday party, making a few stops on the way to say hello to old friends. We had to stop at the chocolate cafe and say hi to Terri, who gave us some free samples. We opted to wait until we got back from the party to buy chocolate, since it was a surprisingly warm day, and we'd like for the chocolate to last. We stopped at Walmart and saw Steven, Kathy, Lisa, Sherry, and Abby. I had Steven help me pick out a gift for Mariah, since we'd poorly managed our time and had forgotten to shop for a gift earlier in the week. Steven said, "You can't go wrong with a stuffed animal," so I picked a multi-colored puppy, and it was sooooo soft-- the kind of material that feels like a big hug. I showed off our sonogram picture, and then we were off to the party. It was kinda funny that I was shopping for the present at 2:15 for a party that began at 2:00. We made it just in time for Kayla to cut the cake, and then we hung out until about 4:30, swung back by the cafe for chocolates and some nice conversation with Terri and Autumn, and then headed back this way.

Next weekend, I really want to do the Zombie Walk, which leads to a pub that is hosting a Zombie Prom. I want AJ and I to do a zombified version of the Safety Dance. Z-O-M-B-I-E... ZOMBIE.... BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAINS!

That's funny. You know it. Hopefully, I can get a group together. Time to create a Facebook event.

Speaking of group fun, I'm planning a Staunton trip. I've invited Matt, Robert, Carolyn, Leo, and Richard. Robert's uncertain, Matt hasn't responded, but Carolyn, Leo, and Richard are in, so it'll still be fun, although I'd like for everyone to be able to be there. Carolyn and Leo are probably only going to see one play with me that Friday night, so hopefully Richard can join me for the Saturday plays, since I want to see both of those. Carolyn also suggested checking out the farmers' market Saturday morning, which we've never done in our Staunton trips. The hippie in me is excited. AJ's not too interested in going, but he almost always ends up changing his mind at the last minute, so he may join me. If not, then that means I can blare my music and sing along to songs he doesn't like during the road trip. There's always a silver lining.
