Fantabulous news!

So as you may or may not know, I have been sorta fighting with Office Team for the past week about my references. I say "sorta fighting," because it's really just been me calling them to find out if they've gotten ahold of either of my former bosses in the computer labs. And today, I called Margaret. She said she still hadn't gotten in touch with Veronica or Stacey, but she would try again today, and I could call back later to find out. So I felt kinda stuck for no more than... 75 seconds? My cell phone rang, and it was Margaret telling me that they somehow have two files for me, and on one of them, it says they've contacted all of my references, so that was where the confusion was. Not sure for how long, but I don't care. She directed me to her business partner Beth, who set me up with a position as a file clerk at a funeral home in Falls Church, assuring me that everyone there loves the job, three out of six of the people they've placed there have chosen to go permanent status that way, and it's 9-5 at $12 an hour. I am ecstatic. When I first spoke with Haley the day of my interview a couple of weeks ago, she told me that my pay would depend on where I worked, some starting out at $9 while some would start between $11 and $13. I anticipated the smallest amount, so I am more than happy to get more. With this $3 an hour difference, I really don't need the Borders job, but I really want it, so I'm going to work it anyhow. Thanks for everyone's support!

Today is my first day of training at Borders - 4:00-11:30pm. Wish me luck!

I called my mom, and I forgot that I was supposed to call her after work on Monday, so I told her about orientation (the mug, the free coffee, the parking), I told her about my hours this week, and I guess it was implied that I won't be coming home this weekend, but I told her that I want to try to get every other Saturday off, because I assume that they want me to work Saturdays since they emphasized the importance of them to me.  She seemed alright with that and made the joke about visitation rights and taking AJ to court or coming uphere and beating him up if she couldn't see me.  Ya know, stuff like that.  And I told her about the news with Office Team. She likes the idea of the pay.  She doesn't like that I have to drive, but I told her that maybe I can take a bus when AJ and I move and told her that we're moving in a couple of weeks instead of the end of the month.  All in all, the conversation went well, and that made me happy.
