Okie, so the interview yesterday went well, as I mentioned. That one was for Office Team. Stuff with clerical work. I already went into that. Well, yesterevening, I filled out a couple of online applications to two Borders locations. Today, AJ and I went to a couple of malls: Pentagon City and Ballston. I applied to Ritz Camera at Pentagon City, applied to some bookstore owned by Barnes and Noble in the Ballston Mall, and I picked up a few applications (Panera, another Ritz Camera, KB Toys, and Bath and Body Works) over at Ballston. We spent some time in EB Games, looking for DVDs. While waiting for AJ in the checkout line, my phone started ringing. I saw it was a number with a 703 area code, so I knew it was someone calling me back about employment, so I ran out of the store. 'Twas Borders, in Tysons Corner, asking me if tomorrow would be good for an interview. I'm going home for a few days tomorrow though, so I asked about Tuesday Wednesday, and we set up a time for then. AJ checked out, and we left. I said, "Too bad we can't go today." "Maybe we can still make it." So I called the guy back, and sho'nuff, I could meet with him today. So we got there as fast as we could, and the guy - Christian - was awesome. I didn't have time to get nervous over the interview, and it went swimmingly. The pay won't be fantabulous, but there are many opportunities for advancement. I did the math, and between Office Team and Borders, I would be set. And if I advance enough, maybe I won't need Office Team at all. Christian said he'd have to check my references, which are Stacey and Veronica at IT-Services, and then he'd set up a follow-up interview with April, the general store manager. I said I was still available on Wednesday, if need be. Fantabulous. He'll figure out if she's good for then, and he'll call me tomorrow. Next week, I'm going to check out some libraries. Yes, I used the same pun two days in a row. I ACED TWO INTERVIEWS TWO DAYS IN A ROW!
So yes, I was originally going to stay here from when I came in on Tuesday to the following Monday, but then my mom and I figured I should come home tomorrow through Monday, stay here, ride down to NC on Friday (the 4th) with AJ, go to Kristen and Nick's wedding on Saturday (the 5th) as well as go to White Lake, and leave with him Sunday evening, stay the night at AJ's parents' house for the night, and then drive the remaining four hours to Arlington Monday (the 7th) morning... unless I start work... in which case, we will leave White Lake and go straight to Arlington Sunday (the 6th) evening. Anyhoo, due to the change of plans, I will be in town this weekend, contrary to what I may have said to others before. I saw Amanda online a little while ago and IMed her to see if she was still having her birthday dinner at the Hong Kong Buffet in Durham on Saturday, but she signed off without answering me, so I don't know if it's internet troubles or what. So Amanda, I'm able to go to your dinner on Saturday after all!
So, to review... Two interviews, two days in a row, both awesome. Home this weekend, so I can eat lo mein in celebration of Amanda's turning 23.
