The View From The Bridge: Memories of Star Trek and a Life in Hollywood by Nicholas Meyer

I love Star Trek. I love Dr. Bones. I was thrilled to get this book as a Christmas gift from my dad. I don’t know anything about Nicholas Meyer, so I was pretty surprised how influential he was in Hollywood. The book starts off detailing his life from well-to-do Doctor’s son to a hardworking movie reviewer at the University of Iowa (boring!) to his chance at Hollywood. The details given about Star Trek II, IV, and VI were great. I was hoping to read more juice than conflict though. I have never read Shatner or Nimoy’s memoirs, so I was unaware of the animosity on set. Also, I was sad that the only mention of my favorite character, Dr. Bones, (played by DeForest Kelly) was when the author yells at him for missing a line. Really? Can't you give me more than just YOU Yelling? Boo!

My favorite part? Reading that Ricardo Montalban was an awesome actor to work with and his pecs were real! Overall, the book was just ok. A little too much Hollywood blah blah that only industry people or people interested in name dropping will care about!
