Dr. Snip

My beloved husband marram got the snip on Friday. I am so proud of him!

I took the day off of work, so I could go into the clinic with him. They were super nice (even though we were over 1-1/2 hours late for the appointment - traffic was abysmal!) We walked in the door, did a quick "interview" where they explained the procedure and asked us if we had any questions. No bingoing at all; they even said it sounded like we had thought things through and complimented us on our resolution.

Dr. Wilson (a.k.a. Dr. Snip) was great - very polite, and even invited me to stay and watch. I thought I'd be a bit squeamish, so I declined. 15 minutes later, and it was done. According to my sweetie, the procedure is not only scalpel-free, but also needle-less. They use a hypospray to apply the lidocane, and he likens the application to having a tiny rubber band snap on your skin. More surprise than pain. No stitches, either, because the opening is so small it just grows closed on its own. For being a trooper, Dr. Wilson gave him a Swiss Army style pocket knife with the Dr. Snip logo on it. Not as cool as the "I'm Seedless boxers" but it's pretty useful.

It's been 4 days. He had a little tenderness over the weekend, controlled by Tylenol, and one bruise about the size of a big pea around the area where the opening was made. He went to the football game on Sunday to watch the Seahawks trample Arizona. I think he'll be fine.

He gets the "test for success" in 6 weeks time. Then we are permanently sprog free!

The hardest part? We can't have sex for another 3 days.
