[It was amazing how much flour cakes took up. After Grune's cake spree earlier in the week, they were still pretty low, even after an emergency grocery trip for more. So Fenimore is making her way towards the grocery store when she passes the smithy and pauses in front of its door. She doesn't particularly like the smithy and she's not really been in it much, if at all. But she ought to check up on Sokka after the draft and this was one place that he could probably be found.

She takes a deep breath, knocks lightly, and slowly opens the door, looking in to see if Sokka is there.]

[...This girl is- run down the mental list. Blonde, long hair... twintails? It must be that Fenimore chick. The awkward one. Okay, Sokka mentioned her. They're... friends? With other complications. So when she spots her entering the door, she stands to intercept-]

Hey there.

[xelhes]

[She smiles slightly as she sees "him" and enters the room completely rather than hanging by the door.]

Hey. You're back to work already?

Of course! The show must go on, right?

[...Wait, would Sokka say that? Oh well. She just says it and puts on her most confident smirkfaice at the end of it because that seems right]

[xelhes]

[She makes an amused sound that can be generously said to be not quite a snort.]

I don't think there would be many people who would bother to watch you work. ...You're doing okay, though, right?

I... yeah. I guess.

[A beat] Still feeling a little off?

[That'll give a good excuse!!]

[xelhes]

[Her amusement drops off her face, a little concern peeking through.]

...Was the draft hard? I mean, more than usual.

[markofthegod]

For me? Of course not. [She figures Sokka needs some pride in. by accounts it was on a boat and she's pretty sure he's a sailor. But then she pauses just the right length before clarifying] But, you know... it was tiring. For me and other people it was harder on.

[xelhes]

I guess that's the best you can expect from something like that. [Fenimore nods and drops the concerned look, if not the concern.] Don't push yourself too hard. -- I'm sure you're fine, mostly, but I doubt anyone's going to want their stuff to be a little off, too.

Fenimore, if I wasn't in good enough condition to work I'd be taking the day off, come on.

[xelhes]

[She waves her hand dismissively.] I know -- or, I'd hope, at least. I'm just saying.

Yeah... uh, thanks.

[ . . . Oh man what do here?]

[xelhes]

You don't have to thank me for something like that. [She shrugs, and abruptly changes the topic.]

What are you working on, anyway?

[...What indeed]

Just... the basics. It'll be new feather time soon, and they need basically basic... things.

[xelhes]

[She tilts her head slightly.]

I don't think you could use the word "basic" any more times in that sentence.
