Dilemma

So I have a dilemma… Do I continue to buy clothes that I know are made at sweatshops or do I refuse to do so and boycott by buying all my clothes second hand or from union labels. Here’s the thing.. am I really doing anything by protesting? If I buy one less pair of Nike’s is that going to make them change their policy, or will it just make it so ( Read more... )

Well you should definitely do something about it. I agree with your observation regarding you alone boycotting. It probably won't affect the status quo, but if you got organized.. it still probably wouldn't upset things too much. This isn't exactly a new issue.

I think the best way to influence these kind of major companies is through politics and law, so voting accordingly is -in my opinion- doing your part, and if you are given the opportunity to buy Fair Trade or whatnot do so. Baby steps.

thanks sean, I definitely need to do something about it... I know that much. and it does help that I am now much less inclined to shop Nike or Gap.
