Yea yea... I apologize for abandoning my livejournal. Work has been a little crazy and I am really only on the computer when I'm at work.
Yesterday, I was initiated into one of the more exclusive food clubs... the "I have been to Chez Panisse Club and I love it" Club. Miguel works at Chez Panisse and when he invited Sam, Hiro and I for dinner, well... it was an offer we couldn't refuse. Our reservation was at 9PM for the cafe and I had been excited all week! To compensate for the future calories, I actually went running for 4 miles during lunch with my coworkers. I don't think I've really run since college... and early college at that! By the time dinner rolled around, I was plenty hungry and ready for good food.
I actually thought about taking pictures for all of the food dishes that we ate, but I soon got distracted by all of the lovely dishes and decided to just enjoy the food and the company instead. I did however get pictures of the first dish and the 4 dessert dishes that we tried. This was a pizza with sorel, mozzarella and egg.
The desserts were absolutely amazing and I have informed both Hiro and Sam and I will be on a strike in terms of baking because nothing will compare to these desserts, and really, I don't want to compete!
Desserts really need no introduction, so here was the raspberry and nectarine crisp with vanilla bean ice cream. Most of the desserts had Happy Birthday banners on them because Miguel had informed the staff that it was recently Hiro and my birthday!

Us at the end of the night stuffed silly!
The service was fantastic. Howie was a terrific waiter and attended our every needs. All the chefs were amazing and friendly! I loved the environment and atmosphere that Chez Panisse has!
Okay, I lied... I did bake... though not after the Chez Panisse experience. Here's a picture of a trifle I made with orange yogurt cake, berries, mascarpone filling and chocolate mousse!
