don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened

I've noticed the influx of people mourning the end of school, and I've wondered whether or not I should join them. It's a major change in our lives, and fair enough, a lot of people are bound to be upset.

Never again will we sit in class, throw paper balls at each other, no more counting down to the ends of periods or having so much fun in class that you jump a little when the bell rings. No more recess, no more lunch, no more handball in senior quad, or bludging off in "study" periods.

All that has finished. But it is not the end.

We'll still see each other in exams and at the formal. Maybe that's why I don't feel severely depressed.

It's been a good year, for me at least. I've done all I could to live life to the fullest this year, and there's very little I regret (... exam results. But that's unchangable, so why worry?) I done everything I've wanted to, some things which didn't turn out according to plan. But at least I did what I wanted to. I'm proud of that fact.

When the time comes, we'll reluctantly part our ways. But we'll move on to other things, maybe bigger, maybe better. There is no going back, so there's no point fighting it.
