Misha and I went to Arizona this past weekend to visit my sister, her husband, and their boy (the previous weekend, we went to Massachusetts and visited my sister-in-law and her family). Apart from Misha’s getting sick, we had a great time. The baby’s at the age (8 months) where he’s starting to get into trouble but doesn’t yet understand “no.”
Friday, Misha and I went for massages at the
Aji Spa in Chandler. It’s a very nice facility, and we could’ve spent a bit longer there than we allowed. We’ll have to plan for a longer visit next time (probably at Christmas). Meanwhile, a trip to
10th Street Baths may be in order.
After lunch, we went to see You Don’t Mess with the Zohan. Now, I’m not a big Adam Sandler fan, but I found myself laughing hysterically from beginning to end. The Zohan is definitely not a typical Sandler character, and the movie is a collaboration between Sandler, SNL’s and Late Night’s Robert Smigel, and The 40 Year-Old Virgin’s and Knocked Up’s Judd Apatow. Overall, I’d say the movie belongs somewhere on the comedy scale between Zoolander and Airplane!
We also watched Enchanted over the weekend. The songs “Happy Working Song” and “That’s How You Know” were both great in context. I enjoyed the movie overall, but it got a bit predictable--typical Disney fare meets a lighter version of The Twilight Zone.
This weekend is
Byte. Next trip is Chicago over July 4 weekend.
