Boys and Girls

Today, while grocery shopping, I perused the shopping-carts-full-of-discounted-items by the freezer section and saw this:

The package said "This stick does tricks!", describing its "Radical Action", with images of SK8RBoyim doing some of those rad tricks in between their shredding, dude.

Its. A. Baton.

A baton!

Or does "baton" sound too girly now?

Oh, I'm sure this is something quite different, and I'm just too old to understand.

It's just a pet peeve of mine how kids toys are so gender-specific, right down to the pink Barbie aisle in Toys 'R' Us. Boy toys have to be macho or grotesque, and are marketed so. Girl toys are frilly and fluffy and pink and purple. I know I'm making generalizations, but It's all so... schnuh!
