I've been on a music buying spree. I think this happened for a few reasons. 1) I feel that I actually have a bit of expendable income now 2) Andy shamed me for downloading (read: stealing) music 3) I like music and want to be into it more again like I used to be.
Through the glories of the internet, I have recently purchased:
Lush -
Split Lush -
Lovelife Boards of Canada -
Music has the Right to Children Tristeza -
Spine and Sensory The Art of Noise -
The Seduction of Claude Debussy The DFA Remixes -
Chapter One I know, I know. You want to shout, "You druggy shoe-gazing hipper-than-thou, why don't you sit in a corner and introspect on the nature of love and the acoustics of the acoustic guitar vs electronic loops, and then have a dance party." Yeah, well, doesn't sound to bad to me. Man, if I had only been about 10 years older and in London, I would have been ALL OVER the shoegaze scene. Sigh. But, I did see Tristeza live right down the street from where I will be living in Philadelphia in 2001. And we hung out with them afterward. Yep, I'm just that cool. And why is EVERYONE into Boards of Canada all of a sudden? It's like, as soon as I find a band I like, they suddenly become the next big thing. I'm like a coolness precipitator. Oh well, having excellent taste in music is sooo hard.
