cathexys is looking for the source for the Joss comment that he wasn't sure whether Xander or Willow would be gay. I *suspect* it was on the old Bronze board or maybe during the post-Tara's death wank, but beyond that - and the extra-textual influence of Seth leaving - I can't help.

su_herald, katemonkey, liz_marcs, or dolores? Help? Answers here in this post or over here would be great, ( Read more... )

There isn't commentary on NMR, so it would have to be "Wild At Heart."

I have to say, I don't remember hearing Joss say that, and I've listened to that commentary a couple of times. I've always just heard the story as unsourced rumor: "Joss said somewhere that . . ."

But I could be misremembering the commentary, of course.

I just listened to all of Wild at Heart and while there's a near obsession with talk about Willow being gay, I didn't hear the Xander thing either.

And yes, just realized NMR doesn't have a commentary at all. *sigh*

I'm figuring I'll have to find another example and just use the Joss rumor one as an example of how fans debate canonicity and subtext (I really wanted to make a statement about the text itself)

Thank you!
