Several things prompted me to request this weekend off; a Magic the Gathering tournament in Santa Clara and more moving of stuff into my new place.
Saturday was day one of the tournament, which was actually a prerelease of Wizards of the Coast's new expansion block in a four set... y'know what? Take my word for it and let me just tell you it was a geek convention. From young little geeklings to middle aged and older nerds, they all came out of the woodwork to get their game on. Ah my people! Actually a lot of them looked like they haven't seen the light of day for years, a few of them looked like mountain hermits, and a large number of them should have been using deodorant! Anyway I was there from 10am to 10pm so my whole day was centered around the "Gathering".
But enough about my crack habit.
Sunday was full of interesting little incidents. For one, I have realized that the tenant who rents the room next to mine must be a "hot bitch". I haven't met her yet but this must be so because she seems to be having sex THREE TIMES A DAY and maybe more. With different guys. LOUD. Once this morning, again sometime in the afternoon, and I think she's at it again right now! *turns up the volume on iTunes* Anyway, the rest of the day was moving stuff into and around the room. I got most of my books out on a janky plastic book shelf. Which is a piece of shit that leans and looks horrible so that means I either need to trawl some garage sales for better furniture soon or head to IKEA. I have a TV that sits on a little octagon table, but need a VCR to be able to play my tapes and to take advantage of the cable that's included in my rent here. I was also looking forward to putting sheets on the bed but it seems that I forgot them in my sister's car the last time she helped move a load of stuff in here. Ah wel...
Well after a while I got a little sick of moving shit around so I took a break to head to downtown Willow Glen for lunch. Which was fortunate because it so happened there was an Italian Culture festival going on so the streets were blocked off and various businesses and vendors lined the street. I checked out my old shop and chopped it up with a couple of friends, even got to run into and catch up with my friend and long lost Peetnik Jackie! Fun times!
So far the room's not looking half bad. It's not empty, it's definitely not cluttered with boxes and garbage bags of laundry anymore, and I can walk around again! Go me! Still... there's a lot of work to be done but I don't think I can stay up any longer.
Guess I'll try and tackle more of this stuff tomorrow morning after a good night's sleep.
