My Random Music Thingy....

Apr 25, 2008 03:55

From the music thingy lovemyfaceoff posted, I decided to try my hand at it.

First the rules:

1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabble related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it’s over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do ten of these, then post them.

1. Crash & Burn - Savage Garden

Ambrose sniffed leaning against the wall and collapsed to the floor in tears. Cain arched a brow at seeing his lover in such a state upon entering their room and approached him slowly a look of concern on his face. He sat down next to Ambrose slowly and the other man leaned into him as he wrapped his arms around him.

“What is it, love?” he asked softly.

“I - I couldn’t sleep,” Ambrose murmured.

“Bad dream?” Cain asked.

Ambrose just nodded and curled into Cain’s arms as his trembling subsided, and sleep slowly claimed him once more.

Carefully so not to wake him, Cain lifted his lover carefully in his arms and carried him back to their bedroom settling him into bed before undressing and climbing in to bed behind him, wrapping his arms around him and praying the nightmares didn’t return.

2. Fuck You I’m Drunk - Irish Drinking Song

Cain stumbled in to the rooms he shared with Ambrose and collapsed on the bed with a groan. Ambrose stirred from his sleep and glared at the man behind him, his breath stinking of alcohol. Scowling, Ambrose pushed him off the bed. He hated it when Cain did this… it was always something… work, his son, or his memories of his wife… He shook his head when there was a loud snore from the floor and got up, grabbing a pillow and blanket and moved to the sitting room to go to bed and let Cain sleep it off on the floor.

3. If I Only Had a Brain - Wizard of OZ

Glitch hummed as he scribbled something down, and then looked off into the distance, day dreaming about a particular Tin Man and wondering just what he could do to get the man to notice him, what he had to do to get him to express his own feelings. With a sigh, he shook his head and returned to his writing; a note to Cain as well as poem expressing his feelings for the man and inviting him to the upcoming Gala in their honor for saving the O.Z. and freeing Azkadellia from the witch. He smiled as he put the finishing touches on it and sealed it before laying it somewhere the man was sure to find it and headed off with a skip in his step, only stumbling slightly as he headed off to find out what to wear.

4. Energy - The Apples in Stereo

Cain blinked as he saw the man gyrating to the music that filled the air and he couldn’t help the soft chuckle at the scientific song played and then swallowed when Ambrose beckoned him to the dance floor with a hypnotic entrancing movement of his hand as his hips swayed and his feet shuffled to the electronic beat of the song about energy. A smile tugged at his lips when he saw him mouthing the words to the song and slowly, nervously made his way to the man and was gratified when Ambrose slid his arms around his neck as he reached up automatically for the thin hips that swayed.

5. At the Beginning - Anastasia

Cain sighed as he thought back to the first time he had met the man who was now laying in his arms, combing his fingers lightly through his soft dark curls. Images flashed in his minds eye of the man standing there when the tin suit was opened, their journey down the old brick route following the kid, jumping off the cliff - he later learned of the man’s fear of heights. The easy way he was amused by Airofday in the Realm of the Unwanted… and the time he had saved him from hypothermia. Shifting slightly, he bent down and kissed the man’s forehead. The man sighed softly in his sleep and he smiled before nestling down in the bed, holding him close.

6. Voodoo - Godsmack (long version)

Ambrose swallowed nervously and closed his eyes, trying to prevent the coming panic attack as the memories of the surgery flooded his mind. Cain squeezed his hand reassuringly as the medicos began to move about the room preparing for the surgery to return his brain to him. Ambrose shivered as a chill crept down his spine and met Cain’s eyes. He closed his eyes again as the medicos drugged him for the surgery and they slowly began to take effect. Drifting off to sleep, he was unaware of Cain’s presence by his side throughout the surgery as he fought the nightmarish visions of the witch’s alchemists, falling in and out of consciousness throughout the whole ordeal and he couldn’t help but wonder if it would be worth it in the end to have all that knowledge back and allow the Queen to have her friend back.

Cain watched with baited breath as the medicos worked around Ambrose, trying to focus on his face rather than the blood that was staining his ivory skin or the waiting brain in the vat of primordial ooze. You could cut the tension with a knife as the medicos worked with silence and precision and he wondered if it was worth it for the Queen to have gotten her way, forcing Glitch to have a surgery he wasn’t even sure he wanted just so she could have her friend back the way she remembered him.

Ambrose couldn’t remember why he was even there… why had he let the Queen talk him into this… it wasn’t fair, she didn’t even take into account his own feeling and insecurities about the procedure. At least… at least Cain was there…

Cain blinked and glanced up to Ambrose’s face when he saw his lips twitch slightly. Was it? Had it really worked? Had they been successful?

Ambrose sighed softly and squeezed Cain’s hand as the drugs began to wear off and the medicos finished the last stitching after removing the zipper from his scalp. Maybe everything would be alright after all.

7. The Race is On - Sawyer Brown

Ambrose grinned and lowered himself over his mount before kicking it forward. Cain blinked as his lover took off. Glitch growled as he was passed by his doppelganger and wheeled his horse around, taking off after him.

Ambrose grinned laughter flying back on the breeze as he heard Glitch’s horse approaching fast and wheeled his horse back around, heading back to Cain and DG who were shaking their head. He sighed as he closed the distance, reaching them first. “That was fun,” he said beaming.

8. The Lover after Me - Savage Garden

Cain wrinkled his brow in his sleep, an image of his cabin with Adora coming to his mind’s eye. He saw himself in the sunlight, swinging her around, her laughter filling the air.

She smiled at him and kissed him, and he blinked as she pulled away though she remained smiling. He blinked reaching out to her but she shook her head and the dream faded. Looking around in confusion he saw Glitch standing by him, a soft smile on his lips - Adora’s smile, Cain thought. Turning, he saw her again and she nodded with a smile before fading away.

Cain blinked, jerking awake and looked down to see the man laying next to him sleeping peacefully and smiled down at him, his guilt of cheating on Adora fading.

9. Carry On Dancing - Savage Garden

Glitch’s tears fell down his cheek unhindered, as he cried. He had been too late… too late confessing his feelings for the man, and too late to save him. He had tried to reach him, push him out of the way before Zero’s bullet reached him, but like always, he had glitched and stumbled over his own feet before he could reach him. The man had fallen, blinking in surprise as the bullet found it’s mark and crumpled to the ground in slow motion as his last breath left him. Glitch cried out in protest, hurrying to what man’s side but was too late.

10. Got 2 B Luv - Bottlefly

Cain shook his head trying to hide his smile as Glitch danced down the road to a song only he could hear. It seemed rather upbeat for their situation and he couldn’t help the thought that the head case was doing it on purpose, trying to cheer him up. His eyes gave away his smile as he watched the brunet dance down the road in an over acting to the words he started to sing and shook his head again at the man. Maybe being a head case wasn’t so bad… he did seem to have a brighter outlook on life… regardless of how he got it.
