Journeying Home

Iolaus alternately walked bedside the wagon or hitched a ride on the back, depending on his mood. He remained alert for any potential danger, especially from the sky, but the return trip was proving to be uneventful and rather peaceful. He was enjoying the stories glints_on_snow told of her Shire and the jovial little people there, of the Great Took, her exploits as a maidchild, the exploits of her husband in something called the War of the Ring. But he was also getting restless with the urge to move on. Where to, he hadn't really considered. Back to Greece, perhaps, to see if Herc had finished with his business in Corinth.

"So, my lovely Diamond," he said cheerfully, for he was almost always cheerful and because he'd grown rather fond of the small hobbitess, "What's the first thing you're going to do when you get home?"

Oh first thing, of course, I will run and find my husband and son where ever they might be and hug them tight! Then I will take a long, hot bath for I feel as if I have half the soil of Middle Earth on me! Then... *blushes*... well, what I do after that is between Pippin and me. I'm sure you understand.

And you, Iolaus? What wll you do when we get back?

Oh, I think I get the picture! *laughing* I'm looking for a nice hot bath mysef. If you think I can find a tub big enough in your Shire! After that? *shrugs* I'm not really sure, to be honest with you. Probably go back to Greece. Or catch a ship to some other port I've never been.
