Fabric -- it taunts and tempts me so

I went to Sir's on Saturday -- met up with Maudey, Gwen, Ysabel, Una, and several others for shopping and lunch -- and spent way too much money.

Some of it was justifiable -- I picked up some black wool for Nuala to make the Cloak of Doom, I got what I thought was black linen for my Crown List outfit (wasn't linen dammit, but it works OK), and I got some black mystery fabric for the boy's Halloween costume.  The rest was wool for a bog coat class I'm teaching in February.  I decided to stock up now, because, even at Sir's prices, the wool will be more expensive in February.  And who knows what the selection would be.

But I couldn't resist. . . I got myself a little more of a beautiful eggplant wool.  Don't know exactly what I'll do with it, but at least now I have more options that just a Norse apron.  Not that a purple wool apron would be a bad thing.  =)

They also had a piece of a lightweight gray plaid wool.  It was strange; it's nothing I would normally choose for myself (or anyone in my family, for that matter) and it was too light to be effective as a coat for the class, but I couldn't put it back.  After I got home I looked through some random pictures I'd found online and saw some plaid tunics that had acanthus vines embroidered around the neckline and Mammen masks embroidered around the sleeves.  THAT'S why I couldn't put that wool back on the table!

I also got a piece of off-white and lavender plaid wool.  I'm hoping I can cut an apron out of it for myself and have anough left for the class.

Doug even got me a few cedar planks, because my wool stash has now officially outgrown the cedar chest upstairs. Heh.
