I think I've discovered part of why I've never really been in a media--especially TV--fandom before Supernatural. It turns out I suck at watching TV. I have no idea when anything is on. Unless it's Supernatural or Friday Night Lights, I can barely pay attention to anything on the screen with my full focus for more than 20 minutes. Once a commercial comes on, I'm likely to wander aimlessly away from the television or get absorbed in reading some lengthy article online, and then I snap back and realize I've missed chunks of the show and have no idea what's going on.

Clearly, without some sort of cable/satellite TV with an on-screen guide, I have no clue when anything is on--even things I want to see. To wit: Dirty, Sexy Money was one of the few new shows I was really interested to check out. I couldn't have told you when it was on if my life depended on it. Last night, I put on ANTM (oh, I can always tell you where my junk food TV is, but that's easy for me to have on while I do other stuff), let that go into Gossip Girl (which actually held my attention far better this week than it did last week, but it will really just remain a "whenever I'm home" kinda thing to watch). At 10, I was randomly switching channels to get away from the hideous CW11 news, when I stumbled upon Dirty, Sexy Money. Oops?

I was intrigued by the premise and some of the characters, yet completely tuned out in favor of the flist for huge chunks of the show. I suppose I should be grateful that I'm not more sucked in. Mainly, though, I think it's that I just hate watching TV in the conventional way anymore. I far prefer seeing it uninterrupted.

I watched a download of Journeyman last night, and I can guarantee that if I'd tried to watch that on commercial television, riddled with breaks, I would have tuned out. Without the breaks, I was able to stay with the story to reach the satisfying conclusion. I'll download it some more, and now that I get the show, I may watch it on TV, but it still might try my patience too much. Oh, and Kevin McKidd's American accent is hideous in its badness. He's no Hugh Laurie.

What with watching all the CW I did last night, you'd think I'd have seen tons of Supernatural promo. Well, you'd think that if you'd never watched the CW before. They aired one ad at 9:50. Ah well, they were pimping shows that were premiering, which is why I saw the Smallville ad at least 4 times. I just hope they pimp Supernatural as much next Wednesday, the day before its premiere.

There's my weird relationship with TV. Please tell me your favorite new show (and when it's on OMG!), since I seem to have completely screwed actually watching anything, except those things I caught by accident.

And with this post, I debut a perfect-for-me TV icon made by the oh-so-talented joeysdramaqueen. Purple shag! \o/
