MUSIC: Stereo MCs

Jan 25, 2006 21:09

I saw Stereo MCs doing a one hour live set on TV last week. They had about a seven piece band (brass, bass, drums, keyboard and other electronics) lead by a singer/MC with a couple of backup vocalists. Sounded excellent! They were playing mostly tracks off their latest album "Paradise". Below you'll find an mp3 of the title track, and a review by Danny B...

Stereo MCs - Paradise
(160k mp3, 3:54mins, 4.5meg)
"Cool, relaxed, soulful, funky, quality hiphop. There you go that’s my review. Simple! But that’s exactly what the Stereo MCs new album is. There’s no typical hiphop gangster connotations, no excessive unnecessary swearing, no degradation of women, no dissing of fellow hiphopers; just quality beats, rhymes and vocals. And surprise surprise, it produces a quality result. Here’s a taste of what you’ll hear, there’s the Jazz infused beats of Prime Time, the soulful female vocals of Set It Off, the mellow blues sounds of The Fear, the rocky influences of Float On and the dark haunting beats and firey, female vocal of Breathe Out, all with lashings of tight flowing lyrics of some truly talented and experienced MCs. If you’re a bit bored and tired of mainstream hiphop or haven’t heard the UK’s finest hiphop export then get your mitts on this - you wont regret it." --Danny B @ ozonline.com.au

Enjoy,
