mod post - holiday exchange + reminder and new policy

I'm here with an important announcement, and a few small reminders.
First of all, Esra, Thessa and I are delighted to announce our 2010 Holiday Spirit Exchange. It will be everything you love about our fic exchanges... with a twist. Instead of being assigned your prompts by us, the mod squad, you guys who sign up will get to claim your own prompts when they are posted over a four-day period here at the community! Think Black Friday shopping, only for fic exchange assignments. It'll be first-come, first-served.
Here's what you need to know: we'll be taking sign-ups from October 18th until the 22nd. Every participant will be required to submit 3 prompts in this format: Character or Pairing: prompt. This is our holiday exchange, so feel free to prompt for something festive if you want! You are not required to, however. All ratings, characters, pairings, etc. will be welcome this time around.
On October 25th-29th, we will be posting the prompts (anonymously, of course!) in equal batches. All participants will be required to grab a prompt. You'll have a choice to make: jump on a prompt that sounds great the first day, or wait to see what comes next? The mods will be actively striking claimed prompts from the list as they are claimed. The prompt-claiming posts will be MEMBERS ONLY, so join the comm now if you are planning on participating.
Further dates will be announced with the sign-up. Feel free to ask questions now, and start getting those prompts ready!
REMINDER: Community/challenge/etc. promoting at gleefics is with mod permission only. We almost always say yes, but we do maintain a promo calendar so that our members aren't being inundated with these posts. Unauthorized promos will be deleted, and those who post them may be subject to a strike under our new points system (see below).
ANNOUNCEMENT: Effective immediately, the comm moderators will be implementing a "three strikes" policy for infractions against the community rules. Here's the strikes system, with the caveat that we may tinker with the specifics as we go along and see fit to modify things:
1 strike = warning
2 strikes = warning two + three day community ban
3 strikes = two week community ban
Most rule infractions (posting multiple times in 24 hours, not tagging fic) will incur a single strike. More severe infractions, such as posting spoilers outside a marked LJ cut, will lead to post deletion and an automatic two strikes. Bad behavior, which can be determined at any mod's discretion and may include flaming or quarrelsome posts/comments , will incur strikes for each comment/post up until banning. Spamming will constitute an insta-ban, but we like to believe that none of our members are pornbots. :p
