Life has been pretty good lately.
I have had productive spurts in the house and yard. Not as many as is truly necessary but I feel good about them.
I have been spending too much time on Facebook and other computery fun.
I have been trying to do a variation of Project 365. I have been good about taking at least one picture daily. I have been having problems getting them up quickly though. I have the pictures posted at both
facebook and
Flickr. The same pictures on both.
Breezy and I are not arguing nearly as much. She is accepting that I am in charge and I am accepting that she needs transition time and a set and finite direction. "Go clean your room." doesn't work. "Make your bed, put the books on the shelves and throw your dirty laundry down the chute." does work. Simple stuff. I should have caught on years ago. The funny thing is that I am learning most of this stuff from my therapist. I started going to her because of the ADD stuff and re-training my head. Part of that ends up being parenting lessons as well. Her specialty is working with children. This is very helpful to me. Her office is also less than five minutes away from my house.
The summer is winding down. We have been fitting in a fair amount of fun.
sprinklekit has been going off to movies with friends.
We have hit Como Zoo a few times.
We have been hitting the watery places once a week and have been very pleased to have
vorrant joining us on those outings.
As you know, we did the State Fair.
sprinklekit ,
mystrycat and I went down to Rochester to visit
onyxspydyr . We got to see her and
keithbear's menagerie. Cute critters.
We had lots of laughs and did lots of shopping. Sprinklekit has decided that she likes the "cold shoulder look.
I am coming to terms with this. She doesn't like things so low in front. So we shorten the straps and we are both happy. Modesty somewhat preserved.
Sprinklekiit and I visited downtown Rochester. We cracked up to see that there is very little to no suburban layer in between the rural and the urban landscapes there. We also were amazed at the details on the old Mayo building and the Chateau Theater (now bookstore). We found a fantastic local artist gallery and a shoe store that we wished had been open if only for the reason that they use gargoyles in their display.
We are heading for a nature walk today and I am hoping for one more watery excursion before I lose the kids for the rest of the year. Water fun will happen either Wednesday or Thursday.
I don't know what we will do on Friday. I will let the kids choose. As long as it is not North of the Fair Grounds, I am pretty Flexible.
School starts next week. Sprinklekit has most of the clothing she needs. I still have to get some more school supplies.
Theoretically, we are supposed to drop off at least Breezy's supplies on Thursday night at the open house.
Mystrycat has applied and been accepted at Hazel Park Academy. She really wanted to go somewhere with a less stringent academic policy. She was tired of always feeling like she would never ever be able to keep up. Her parents have agreed that this would be good for her. Besides, Mystrycat made this decision by herself. We are all hoping that since she was so proactive with this idea, that she will "take the bit in her teeth and run with it".
This year even Squishy will be leaving me for a few hours a week. Technically, he will just be showing up late.
moneygod will drop him off at preschool twice a week and I will pick him up. I am both happy and sad to see him start going to school. He needs it, I haven't been able to give him as many peer group experiences as I did with the other kids. This will be good for him.
That's pretty much everything. Have a good day!
