Milk mushrooms

The weather is not so rainy like they promised and I was absolutely dry during mushroom searching and picking this morning in this fabulous forest:

I started process of preserving milk mushrooms by salting only several of them week ago. Therefore my goal for today was to find several mushrooms more to replenish the pot. It was a very pleasant 4 hours walk. Mushrooms were trying to hide and disguise themselves in vain, like this one:

And the mission was completed successfully when I got 15 of them. This is a number I planned and the amount that will give me a chance to surprise and please my family and friends with an exotic food on New Year party. We restrict ourselves in the forest harvesting when picking berries of mushrooms and collect only as much as can be eaten. Our eating habits have changed here greatly and salted mushrooms are really exotic food for us. Exotic and unhealthy, I would add.

I have discovered occasionally that writing my blog in English is more comfortable for me than in Russian. Do not know why, but I like this :) It looks like I will be leaving more traces in this log that helps to remember past in the future.

Let’s go back to this morning. Coniferous forest is a habitat for milk mushrooms:

There are not much deciduous trees here, but several maples were met and their leaves that started turning decorate forest. The changing fall foliage never fails to surprise and delight me:

But it’s not a good time yet for this. Maples are only in the very beginning of the colors change.

There are many different mushrooms in the forest and I took pictures of some of them. These agarics are very attractive:

Perfect russulas:

Champignons:

My mushroom picking mission of the morning is finished and I am heading to the shore:

The weather is changing in accordance with the forecast:

I have a nice walk along the water looking at the skyscrapers line on the horizon:

Young gulls are arguing:

It’s a lunch time and I am strolling to my car to be home in 25 minutes:

Thanksgiving dinner is ahead too :)
