Finally!

It's been a long, long day. This morning, I actually fell out of bed. Luckily, I didn't land on my hip, mainly my butt. It was a lucky thing that I didn't hit my head on the pull out shelf of my bed. Ma actually heard me hit and came to the rescue.

I had plenty to do today. Go pick up my check for the work I did recently for www.theredclover.com. I'd planned to get a greendot card so I could make some payments online. Word of warning that probably doesn't apply to the people reading this, if you get a greendot card, you will not get your actual Master Card until 5-8 days later.

I get to the bank to cash the check for the work that I've done, and there was a message for me there. I was supposed to call home. Ma apparently left numerous messages for me around town at all the places I my show up. The message was to call a number at the Disability office.

I ended up being able to use an empty desk at the bank to call the Disability office. Spent about 20 minutes in a phone interview. The result? I have been approved for both Social Security Disability as well as SSI (a needs based program from the state). I'll be getting a check for about $400 for the first bit from SSI. The SSD will kick in after that. Once I get my first monthly check for $1600 that will cut off my SSI benefits. No worries, since I'll be getting $1600 a month as long as I'm on Disability.

The really cool news? The back pay from Disability will be about $8000. I'm not sure what the hell I'll do with it, but I've got some plans.

Also, I found out that insurance won't kick in until July 2009. Because of that fact, I don't feel so bad now about tomorrow's appointment. Ma has a final appointment with the doctor that did her hip surgery. It was a charity case.

We're going to ask for a charity case for me. There's no way I can afford the hip resurfacing surgery. So wish me luck with that. I hope to be 'fixed' in a couple or months or so.

WOOOOOOOT!!!
