Holidailies Post 17 - A Bit More Information on the Black Horse Tavern

Dec 25, 2008 20:18

Well, I'm having a bit of a time trying to find an actual site for the Black Horse Tavern. However, after Ma read the post about the anniversary dinner, I found out some information that I did not know.

It ends up that the coasters that inspired the dinner, and making the matchbook cover and all the other items came from a real tavern. The Black Horse Tavern in question is in Bermuda. Ma and Pa went there on a date shortly after they met. When I say shortly, keep in mind that Pa proposed to Ma two weeks after their first date. Actually the first date they had wasn't even with each other. It was a double date, Ma and her sister, and Pa and another man. However, Ma's date was with the other man, and not Pa.

So, I found it really cool that we were able to give them that, and it had deeper meaning for them that we didn't even know about. She really liked the post, too. Maybe I need to look deeper into this whole writing thing. ;^)

Christmas was good today. Ma and Tuckey both liked their gifts, so that was good. We had ham for dinner this year, we normally have turkey. All in all we had ham, scalloped potatoes, rice, squash, and I made some rye bread (with the help of the bread maker, of course). A very good meal all around.

I hope everyone had a merry Christmas, and has had an enjoyable day.
