Holidailies - Ursids Make a Comeback?

Dec 20, 2008 18:08

Yeah, my gut's still bothering me, so it's going to be another short one.

Since there was a full moon around the time of the Geminid showers this year, the Ursid showers have a better chance of being seen. The point of origin will be from the north, in the area of the Little Dipper. Viewing should be best in the pre-dawn hours, however, any time after midnight should be good.

Granted, there won't be as many as in the Geminids, however, you're probably going to get about 15 an hour. So, hopefully, the weather where you're at will be better than where I am. We're looking at rain for the next few days. Not that I'm begrudging the rain, but being blocked out of the majority of the more visible showers this year... I'd like to see something.

And if you miss them tonight, don't worry, you've got through the 26th for viewing.
