A very relaxed, fun 4th of July. Slept in, made a lovely lunch and watched 1776 on Turner Classic Movies. It's one of my all time favorite movies, a musical about the debate surrounding the Declaration of Independence. It's much more exciting and witty than it sounds, and the performances are incredible. (Especially William Daniels as John Adams) Every line in it is pure gold. I like this Adams line in particular. "At a stage in life when other men prosper, I'm reduced to living in Philadelphia. " Genius.
Went to Drexel Park with Janelle where we camped out with slurpees and chips and blankets to wait for the fireworks. Even though we waited for 3 hours, we had some nice, quiet girl time and that was great.
Of course, Philadelphia knows how to do fireworks up right, shit blew up real good and somewhere, George Washington's corpse shed a tear for liberty and everything was totally rad.
Currently watching North by Northwest because Cary Grant and his amazing suits on top of Mount Rushmore are as American as apple pie.
