Eventful day!
Went into the city and met up with Renee and her beau. We went to see Catfish, which was wonderful. However, it has made me terribly afraid of you all, my online friends. It also made me feel very fortunate that I did a lot of vetting and that the online people I have met are exactly who they claim to be. It's a brilliant documentary. I encourage everybody to see it.
Then we wandered a bit. There was a street fair and I got alcapurrias! *squee* Renee laughed at me because I did a little jig when I saw the Dominican/Puerto Rican food stand.
Then we picked up Renee's zipcar and drove out to Long Island for the Metric/Muse concert. I was navigating, but I forgot that I get terribly anxiety when I'm in the front seat and going over long bridges/stretches of elevated road. I can see so much of the road, and I imagine things collapsing. I managed to keep my cool, so nobody knew. However, my tensed posture during the drive made me realize I'm very much turning into my mom (who has these insanely sharp, scary gasps she does when my dad does a driving thing she hates).
The concert was fabulous. Muse blew a fuse. Literally. In the second song, there was a pop and then you couldn't hear Matt Bellamy's guitar anymore. They stopped everything and Muse left the stage while electrician's fixed his amp system, and then back out they came to finish the song. Metric did a 45 min set including Black Sheep
http://yfrog.com/j9zldz and Muse did a 90 min set/encore which seemed to include every one of their best songs
http://yfrog.com/03oqfz . Both band setlists were noticably lacking each band's respective contributions to the Eclipse soundtrack, which I laughed about. (Those songs suck).
And we got back to Manhattan with plenty of time and Renee nicely dropped me off where I could catch the bus, meaning I got home way much early. Yay!
Today's netflix instant selection was The Stepfather with Amber "Boobtastic" Heard. :D
