OMG. Amazing weekend.
You know when you love a band just the right amount to say 'if I saw
them live right now, I would be so happy'? Well, that happened with
Kashmir. It was worth the $50 train ride(s). It was worth the $50
tickets. It was worth the going broke-ness and having to pay for the
train home with a
t-shirt. Gah, it was incredible.
It was in this cool venue called Tobakken (The Tobacco), so called
because it was a converted tobacco factory back in the day, but is now
a concert hall. What makes it ultra cool is that the audience pit isn't
long and stretching back into the distance of the stage, but more wide
and squished at the back. You can only fit about 20 people before
theres a little balcony thing (which I was was sitting on) that puts you
about level with the stage, and above that is another balcony thing.
Everyones really close to the stage, and they had tables and chairs and
bar tables all over the place. Über cool.
On stage everything was slanted about 30° to the left. I half expected
the players to have an equal slant, but no, they stood upright.
Kasper decides whether to teleport a foot to the left or not. (Actually
this is the bit in No Balance Palace where they perpare to go crazy on
guitars. Probs best bit of the concert)
My clearest picture! Its crap but clear.
OMG Kashmir are awesome live. Upon listening to my recordings (my
stupid camera can only take 20 second videos), Kasper has a horrible
voice, but you couldn't tell in the concert. No one would have cared
anyway. Only despicable thing was that they didn't play Graceland or
Lampshade. Even though Lampshade is my favourite song, I didn't expect
them to play it because its not so big, but Graceland? Thats the song
that made them so famous! Gosh, they're crazy men - As shown by Kasper
stumbling around drunk all the time on stage, and at the end trying to
beat up the dummy leaning on the guitar amp. They finished off with Big
Fresh, which was also weird, but fitting.
I hate it when the band leaves the stage for good and the house lights turn on. That part was horrible.
We returned to Anne's house to watch Midsommer (a Danish thriller) and
slept there the night. Then to doubly-awesomeify the weekend, I saw
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire the next day! In Tønder (a 5 min
bike ride from Germany), because it was sold out everywhere else. The
fact that I was a few meters from the screen didn't seem to bother me
either because it was so cool! They miss out on a lot and change a lot,
which was expected since the book is so fat, but it still makes a
really good movie. Also Emma Watson is a horrible actor. Sure, she
looks good, but her acting was quite shit. And Neville is super cool.
And tall! But mainly cool.
I only just caught the last possible bus back home and deliberatley
forgot to get off in Tørring to go to a party I wouldn't have been able
to afford and would have gotten something stolen at anyway. Slept in
and listened to Kashmir.
At the concert I tapped along too hard and pulled a muscle in my ankle.
I didn't feel so stupid cos the guy next to me was going as nuts as he could while sitting. He
looked huge, but when everyone stood up I was taller than him. It made
me feel better for some reason.
So ended the weekend.
