So, a while back Frank Miller basically invented the grim'n'gritty anti-hero with The Dark Knight Returns. It was a good, if politically anvillicious, story of the descent of society, the burden of the hero and the changing face of morality. Personally, I'm torn over whether I prefer the part where Batman expects Dick Grayson, 12 years old (as they never tire of reminding us) to eat rats in a cave after seeing his parents killed in front of him, or the giant woman with the Nazi pasties hanging out in front of Joker's hotel-room door. I mean, did Joker and that prosecutor walk past her on the way in? How drunk was she?
