Fic: Standard Deviation, Chapter 4B

May 16, 2012 21:37

Author's Notes: When I wrote this, I didn't anticipate the chapter being this long. I chose the best place I could to break it up into two parts, but it's still a little jarring. Apologies for this - there wasn't much I could do. Onwards with the end of the story!

Disclaimer: Nope. Still not mine. Boo.

So i've just read the second part and yes my guess has been right, it had to do with Jim chasing that guy over the rooftop, but it doesn't explain why Bones behaviour to Jim changed so suddenly. But after Pike told Jim the story about jim und Bones it was clear. You've made a very good and deep feeling story that explains why Bones is as hi his. The whole story has been amazing, hope to read more from you.

*breathes out a sigh of relief*

I am really happy that all the elements I had in my head for this story came together for you in the end. I have to admit - when I write this stuff, I read and re-read it over and over again to the point where I'm not sure it makes sense any more by the time it's actually finished.

There were so many moving parts in this story (most of them subtle) that I felt like I was trying to postulate Scotty's theory of trans-warp beaming while writing it. I admit angst and tender moments aren't really my "thing". I'm a crack writer, so this was truly a test. I'm glad it passed muster!

Anyway, there will be lots more coming (I'm hard at work on about a dozen different fics right now), so yeah. No shortage of ideas there. Thanks for the comments and for reading!

How did I miss that you were done with this? You're on my flist and the comms you post to are on my flist. Anyway, as always I love, love, love your cop!verse. Your characterizations of Bones, Jim and Pike are so compelling and realistic. I was very moved by the story Pike related about McCoy being shot by the drug supplier. It was especially poignant for me because a couple weeks ago, we had two Sheriff's deputies shot in my city (not life-threatening injuries, but one especially will have a long road to recovery). I hate it when cops get shot, even fictional ones. I'm glad Kirk, McCoy and Pike all have each others backs and that Jim is now thinking of his partner as a friend.

Hee! No worries - it happens. I've done that a few times where I'm all, "Wut? How the hell did I miss the end of the story," when I start wondering why I haven't seen any posts in the recent past. Kind of makes you *faceplam* though, doesn't it ( ... )
