She had tried to make it her life for her parents. They'd doted on Stranz and Fairchild at every practice, cheered for them at every competition, and had forgotten her. They'd died when she finally tried it.
Skating made her siblings manipulate her, drove them into a frenzy that made them try to actually kill.
Skating was not her life.
That meant that Jimmy couldn't be in her life, either. It had hurt to tell him, but... Well, she was pretty sure he wouldn't miss her for long.
She had a new life to start.
