Nov 24, 2007 23:01

Since we are entering the holiday season, for the next few weeks my song choice will be Christmas songs.  The video for this week may not be as impressive as others, but it is about the music!  Hope you like the selection.

I agree with what you are saying...counting presents would be a tad unnerving.

One of the worst things my mother ever did was 'allow' my brothers to stop buying presents amongst the three of us. That led to them not sending me a birthday card or calling. I'm not even on their Christmas card lists. It led to a lot of hurt feelings on my part, because I honestly believe they can sacrifice the time to pick out a card and write in it. They never remembered my anniversary or my ex-husband's birthday, which was extremely embarrassing as it was the same day as our mother's. I had the suggestion that we call each other once a month on the same day that was to be our birthday day in the month. They didn't even make it through the first month.

Now these two men are strangers to me. They may be great husbands and fathers, but what I see of them when I am around them, I don't like very much. They don't like me, either and they have talked way too freely in front of their kids-the kids are very rude and disrespectful.

Holidays are absolutely brutal.

Okay, I went on a tirade...glad you liked the song and thanks much for posting.

YIKES! I'm sorry to hear that! Rants are good, that's what the LJ is here for...right? It's quite amazing what family can do to each other and not think twice. I honestly believe the people we choose as our closests and most important friends are our family of choice.

I'm glad overall my family is pretty great. My sister-in-law has actually made her daughters shallow and materialistic, the youngest being the worst. If I had had any children I would have had one just like her. My payback for being such a difficult child(she makes me look like a saint though she's so difficult). My brother is definitely my Dad, anything to make his girls happy, even though he pays pretty heavily for the spoilage.

I'm one of 8 and many years ago one of our brothers decided we were all too sinful and unrepentant to be worth his time. He would send offensive cards at Christmas and be judgemental during family gatherings. He told my oldest brother "I sit on the right hand of God and have the right to judge". That was beyond IT for me. I hadn't seen him in over a decade until my sister invited him to her wedding. Much to everyones shock, he showed up. I didn't say one word to him...
