excitable

Oct 11, 2006 00:07

got a big ball of cliches
that don't mean a thing
got a bag of "amo te"
and none of them are the same
i watched the sun rise and the sun set
from the same lonly chair on our slanted deck
stuck out my hand and caught
the first rays that day begot
and the lake we sailed
was right there in front
all laid out like god was a maid
that turned down sheets
while we slept before day
and the atoms were clinging
so they must be in love
to hold so tight
i guess gravity knows the sum
of all the 'vitus mundorum'
the 'via ad amorem'
everything, all things.
it must know the sum.

she cut all the cliche out of me
drove me home
pushed the sheets around my body
too drugged to sleep
so i dreamt awake
i dreamt awake
and wished life away
wished it were attached to the embaresing part
that all foolish people attribute to the heart
when crushed,
like embers, i wish 'twere lost to the dark
eventually, exitable,
i know memory is the devil's art.
