So the earlier entry about Wicked made me curious, and I started a random search on Google to see what other 'reimaginings' I could find.
I discovered that Nalo Hopkinson wrote a short story based upon Diamonds and Toads.
I knew I loved that woman after Midnight Robber, and now it's confirmed. There are actually two versions of Diamonds and Toads in the compilation (Silver Birch, Blood Moon). It's full of 'reimagined' fairy tales - mostly European, but there's one that sounds like it might be a twist on the Aladdin story.
Actually, it appears that there's a whole series of these. Who knew?
