Abandoned Warehouse District, Wednesday Night

Feb 12, 2014 21:53

Amelia didn't know how she'd gotten where she was. Distressingly, that wasn't that uncommon. Four months ago she'd gone to sleep in Sector 3 of Midgar and woken up in the ruins of Edge without any knowledge of how or why or who could have done something like that.

Two days ago, she'd woken up in somebody's apartment, under a different sky.

While she wasn't very old, she was pretty smart, so Amelia had stolen as much food as she could carry, then abandoned the apartment in a hurry. Whoever owned the place couldn't be good news for her.

It was cold outside, though Midgar hadn't been much warmer, and Amelia made do with breaking into an empty warehouse and using it as a place to hide. (And to sleep, once she'd… liberated a few blankets.)

Careful snooping around taught her that this place was called Fandom Island, and that the year was 2014. Neither meant anything to her. She couldn't remember ever hearing about any place called Fandom on Gaia. And the year was just… weird.

What was weirdest, though, was the complete lack of monsters roaming the streets even in the worst parts of town.

That worried Amelia. Monsters, she could handle. Or hide from. Or run. In Midgar, they were a good way to scavenge things-either from the monsters themselves, if she could take them out, or from their victims, who left things behind.

Without monsters, she didn't have a source of income, and the town was small enough that she knew she'd be noticed eventually…

Amelia set her chin stubbornly, curled up in her stolen blankets, and settled in for the night. She'd manage. She'd been managing. This was just another challenge.

... A really big one.

[Establishy, since I'm going to bed. Rosalind has been AU'd into Amelia, a child-version of herself, for the duration of the BDE.]
