Oh good gods. Okay, we finally got the kiln all set up and everything, the wire is hooked up, nice and neat and happy, and my dad managed to do it with the existing load center (apparently I just wasn't pushing the circuit breaker in enough. *facepalms*
So we got that all set up, mom's super happy.
THEN I brought my dad upstairs to help me fix the sink. It took a lot of effort on his part (things were rusted over and whatnot) just to get the existing faucet off. We got the new one on, and the mom and I were all ':DDD SO, HOW ABOUT THE DRAIN PIPE?' because the old one was kinda grimy looking and the new faucet came with a pretty new drain bit.
...
Well, the old one took a LOT of time to get off, and when dad did, everything started falling to pieces.
Yeah, the old drain was really, really corroded and breaking. Dad ended up taking off the whole trap and everything, and he's going to take it with him to the hardware store to get replacements for it all. That drain was probably a year from corroding away completely and falling off on its own, so I guess it's a good thing we have it off now and are getting it fixed.
Bad thing is, dad's not coming back till next Tuesday, so for now that sink is unusable. FUN TIMES.
But at least the kiln is working and we don't need a new load center or anything. If we ever want to sell the house, we'll probably have to get a new one because the old one is just so... in bad shape. *sighs* It's old and none of the wiring is really up to new code. And the old two-pole circuit breakers are not... technically legal. =/ Fantastic.
Still a lot of work to do on this house. Maybe one day we'll have it all finished, and then we can sell it! Or not...
(Totally unrelated, I have GOT to stop typoing the word 'work' as 'worm'. I have worms on the brain.)
Going to go play with clay for a little bit. Yay clay!
