Bones
“I’m just saying that surely as Booth and I been partnered for three years, I don’t think that
you can accuse me of being defensive simply because I said I was surprised that he
would take a case that would directly interrupt the working relationship we’ve
developed.”
“But that’s exactly why I’m saying you’re being defensive. Agent Booth here has agreed
to lead a high profile case, which will take up a huge amount of his time and energy and
that you, as a forensic anthropologist have no abilities that could aid the case, it’s
perfectly natural for you to feel rejected.”
“I do not feel rejected! If Booth feels the need to step out on his own in order to fulfil
some inner desire to be in control and be the dominant male, I won’t stand in the way of
that... even though the fact that there are no bones in the case does not in anyways mean
that my capabilities and expertise will not be of use.” Temperance took a sip of her
coffee, frowning slightly as the now cold coffee touched her lips. How long had they
been in this session? Clearly longer than the ten minute time-set they had agreed to give
Sweets before she headed inside the institute, “I actually think that it’s you Sweets, who
should feel rejected. If Booth and I are no longer working with each other, then you are
going to have little to write about us, so in order to compensate for this latest development
you are goading me into a confrontation with Agent Booth!” Brennan sat back in her seat,
a smile easing itself onto her face as Sweets squirmed and spluttered in front of them
trying to discredit her observation. Psychology was so simple, and had none of the
complexities and definitive answers a science should have. Her eyes darted quickly
between her watch and Booth as she gestured to him that it was time to go, whilst they
might be working on different cases, both still had work to do.
“Until next time Sweets,” Brennan got up off of the couch and followed Booth out of the
room, checking her phone for messages as she left. She had three. All of which were
from Hodgkins. Turning to Booth, she sighed, “It’s Hodgkins, just go on. I’ll call you later
for well,” She paused for a moment as she speed dialled the institute, “no reason
whatsoever.” Brennan bought the phone to her ear and walked away from her partner
just as Hodgins answered the phone.
“Dr. Brennan, I think I’m just about to make your day.”
“What is it Hodgins?” Brennan covered her other ear as she listened to the excited voice
at the other end of the phone. As the information she was getting clicked into place,
she spun round and searched the busy plaza for Booth, “Booth!” Spotting him, Brennan
walked quickly towards him. Snapping her phone shut as she moved, “Come on, we’ll
take my car,” She made her way to the car and refused to hear his frustrated comeback
before she interrupted him, “Booth! Your bone-less case,” she smirked as she swung the
driver’s door open, “Just got some bones.”
