Kittenstock 2010!

First, thanks to everybody here and all over for all the good wishes about my Mum's grad in June.  She was over the moon!

But now . . . . adorableness!  It's a long post, but I won't apologize, because it has Kittens!

Geoff's parents live in North York, in a house with a beautiful garden near one of the ravines.  As long as I've known them, they've kept an eye out for local wildlife, left seed for birds, and occasionally fed stray cats that wandered through the neighbourhood.  One of those strays, who has been eating at the kitchen door for months and months, turned up pregnant in June.  They kept a worried eye on her, and finally decided they just couldn't leave her outside with the kittens obviously near to arriving.

So in she came!  Her first instinct was to rush the basement and find a spot down there, but they cut her off at the pass, worried they'd never find her if she burrowed in to the clutter too far.  Instead, they set her up in the living room, where the glass doors could keep the two housecats at bay.

Geoff and I were over for dinner that night, and she was lying on the floor, ignoring the handy box covered with a blanket she'd been given for privacy, and demanding much affection.  You could see her belly rippling with kittens, which sounds a little weird, but was also really neat.

The kittens were born a day later - she's such a tiny cat we assumed there would be only 2 or so, but she had 5!  Two of them look like little brown bears, two are tortoise/tabbies like their mother, and one is random and orange and intrepid.  We brought our camera when we visited them at three weeks, so without further ado, I give you your friendslist kitten spam:
