And the hamachi was fishy!

Friday night, xamichee, brumal, Mary, and I headed out to get a bite to eat. We were headed down to see if Hana was still open but brumal was apparently going to traverse the entirety of 15th to get there. As we overshot our destination by an increasing number of blocks, I remembered Liberty, right down the street on the left. They have sushi! And cocktails!! It's ( Read more... )

Just reading that gets me all pissed and impatient again. It's amazing, as a late night sushi joint (in my neighborhood nonetheless), the bar really isn't that high at ALL. All they had to do was barely be mediocre and I would have loved them for it.

Why have you failed us Liberty?

I feel like it's too long for Yelp! I never read long reviews.

holy crap. ive never had an experience THAT bad, but i generally avoid liberty for that reason... takes forevvvar and its delivered with the attitude you owe them your first born for the favor. oh and its not very good.

and in general owners should never be allowed to serve or be let in the kitchen.

The bummer is, I've been to Liberty quite a few times and, whether I'm just getting drinks or am also getting sushi, I've always had a good time.

It's disappointing because there's so much possibility here and it's being wasted.

my experience there has been really hit and miss. I like it for cocktails, but not necessarily their "specialty" cocktails. The sushi is mediocre and there's no reason to eat mediocre sushi in this town, ever, so I just avoid it.

I've generally had good luck with the service, and occasionally really good luck when the bike-mechanic guy who's name I forget was bartending. I do remember going there once with someone and the server basically never came back so we could get a second drink and we ended up going to another bar after waiting far too long.
