today david and i went to six flags. he txt'd me about free tickets at 2, and by 3 we were paying fifteen dollars to park and walk the trail of tears to the park.
stuff we rode:
- the mind bender
- the monster plantation (only in the south, seriously)
- the log flume
- goliath
- the wheelie
stuff we ate:
- strawberry lemon frozen lemonade (both of us)
- blue cotton candy (david)
- funnel cake (both of us)
- diet cokes (both of us)
ok for the record i used to be a total baby about riding roller coasters, but in the past three years for some reason i've had a total change of heart, and will now ride them at will, even though i can't keep my eyes open and i scream the whole time. goliath has a 20 story drop and goes almost 70 mph, and i don't really know how david got me to ride it but for the fact that we were like 'we are here for free, we need to ride the shit out of everything.'
some highlights besides my screaming would be this kid who rode the wheelie before us who kept screaming at regular intervals at an extreme high pitch. this led to me trying to imitate him while WE rode it, but i would intermittently laugh while doing so. david said my impression was pretty good though. another would be me trying to get david to ride thunder river, where you get soaked, but him instead convincing me to ride the little bitch log flume. we still got pretty soaked. our photo got taken on it, and i have my hands thrown up in abandon and david just looks mesmerized.
one of the funniest things to me is that the part of the park which contains monster plantation is also called the confederate area. seriously. maybe rename it "the old south" area? i don't know. monster plantation was also NOT SCARY but david tried to psych me up for it, so i'd be like "is it animatronic or actual humans?" and he'd just tell me i'd have to ride it and see. it was all animatronics. nothing touches you, nothing jumps out at you, but it does play a really annoying song that david sung for the rest of the trip.
other than that, we talked about what we'd do when we had kids and whether or not we'd take them to parks like this, and people watched. and talked about halloween costumes. i might go as a zombie this year ! then maybe i can counteract my own fear of them.
all in all, GREAT SUCCESS ! and a good end to a really long fucking week at work, and i'm about to begin another.
