Random post about recently watched films/TV that have no active girl-love fandoms, GO!
Josie and the Pussycats (2001) - aliceheavenly and myself recently rewatched this and I have to confess it's still one of the best comic-to-film adaptations ever. I can't believe how much they got away with in this film ~ especially considering it was adapted from an Archie comic. As a kid I was a passing fan of the Josie comic and cartoon, probably more the latter than the former considering the limited stock of American material that actually turned up in newsagents (and the limited amount of money I was prepared to pay) and one thing that always strikes me about this film is how well they managed to capture the characters of the central cast (Josie, Val, Mel, Alexander, Alexandra and Alan M.) as well as doing something reflective of the time it was made.
And despite the film's seeming desperation to reinforce Josie/Val subtext I refuse to capitulate. Josie/Mel 4 EVER!!11
Sidenote the first: I was really pleased to note that the recent celebrate! good times: the femslash_today porn battle contained several Josie prompts but I didn't write any of them...
Sidenote the second: aliceheavenly keeps threatening Alan M./Travis from Du Jour boy fic. I don't believe her.
High School Musical (2006) - Refer to this post for more linear notes on music etc. As for the girl relationships: OMG! Sharpay/Gabriella! Gabriella/Kelsi! Sharpay/Kelsi! I need to write all of these pairings!
...well, maybe I don't *need* to but I'm going to. Apologies for any of you wanted to see meaningful content on this journal. hahaha.
The Suite Life of Zack and Cody Season 3, Episode #18 (2007) - I'm scared by S3 episodes (I'm still watching S2 episodes!) however the unexpected CANON!love of Maddie/London can not be denied in this episode. Not only that but it's Sharpay!London x Sharpay!Maddie.
Yes, I really do understand this makes no sense.
I'm really sorry for how much Disney stuff I've posted lately. ('-'*)
In a desperate attempt to save this post, I'm going to mention that I plan to do a 100 word drabble advent calendar this year. I'm happy to entertain prompts/requests if any of you get bored. Fandoms I'm willing to write can be found in the usual place. Anything else can be negotiated.
