on s'est laissé tomber à genoux;
on s'est enlisé jusqu'au cou...

mais un mot de toi pour ma peine;
ma paranoïa sur tes lèvres.
mais, alléluia, le vent se lève
sur l'enfer où je me promène.

--kyo, "l'enfer."

i won't angst. i won't angst. i won't angst.

anyway, i just wrote these few paragraphs of the first scene of the second chapter of my yet untitled original project. i kinda like it, for some reason, especially the last paragraph. i had written some of it before, but it had too much dialogue-- i think i managed to bring it down enough so that it will (when i finish it) flow as smoothly as the very first scene of the novel did (which i looked for and couldn't find, BTW-- i thought i had posted it here once, that's weird... O_o).

He was about to put his microwavable dinner in the oven when he heard her come in. He quickly started it and went outside to greet her. He had waited for her after he was done with work, but he hadn’t seen her.

She was just leaving her things on the table, and turned to him. She looked very tired. “I had a meeting, I forgot to tell you.”

He watched her sit down and close her eyes, taking a hand to her head. “I wasn’t aware your department had a meeting today.” She muttered under her breath that they hadn’t, which confused him a little.

It didn’t take him long to figure out that she was struggling with something to say, so he went back to being busy with his dinner as he waited. He knew, even from their first conversation, years ago, that it was very hard for her to express herself, so whenever he felt that she had something serious to discuss, he did his best to make the atmosphere as light as possible. He didn’t know, and had never really asked, why she was that way- it couldn’t just be shyness, not after so many years of friendship- but that was their routine. It took her a while; sooner or later she would open up.

A couple of heartbeats later, he heard her admit that she had just had dinner with the son of the President of his company’s number one rival.

He would be lying if he said it didn’t make him stop in his tracks for a second. Well, it was more like two seconds. This is because at first, there was the sharp pull in his heart (and his stomach) he always felt whenever he heard that she was with another man; the pull that he knew, but wouldn’t admit, was due to jealousy. Then one moment later, that pull became dread as her words sank in and he realized that their recent rendez-vous could very well have been a job interview.

FYI, he is the president of his own company. she works for him. she went out with the son of the president of the rival company. i can't make that one sentence come out right #_#
