why is everybody writing poetry all of a sudden? it makes no sense to speak in verse, you can't say everything you want in such a concise sentances and you spend so much time worrying about your meter or your rhyme scheme that you lose whatever meaning there's supposed to be!! and don't start on free-verse, that's just basically
putting in line breaks in regular
speech as if to give
the appearance of poetic reason to something
perfectly unreasonable!
see?
anyway instead of writing silly daft poetry, i've actually been doing something useful with my summer. last weekend i went to a social with my Auntie Amelia and we met some of her old friends from her women's libber days, including this one woman named dottie who was just the best! she's sixty-two and owns a motorcycle and she isn't tied down to a man or kids or anything, she just drives all around england and stays with friends, isn't that amazing? anyway she gave me a couple of patches so i've been spending the past week recreating them and getting dad to help me charm them to say things like "girl power!" and "feminism!"--roger said i should make them all sing spice girls tunes and i don't know what spice girls are but whatever it is it sounds like MORE MALE CHAUVANISM so i tried to stuff a patch up his nose but mum made me stop.
anyway once term starts up i'll be selling the patches at school to raise money for an organization in africa that's working to stop the practice of fgm in some tribes and i think it's absolutely imperative that people contribute!! i'll expect everybody from hufflepuff to buy one, i would hate to think any of my fellow housemates would let such unjust suffering go on in the world unnoticed!! of course i will be accepting advance orders as this is very serious business!
well that's all i had to say so bye for now.
...okay so maybe i will write a little bit of poetry, for appearances sake if nothing else:
there once was a puppy named 'bark'
who was rather afraid of the dark
he slept through the day
and woke up to say--...
......
oh bugger all this for a lark. :/
